Several US cities have scheduled to screen the Iranian documentary ‘Plane Grove’, which tells the story about Tehran’s longest street.

As part of the ‘Docunight’ program, an initiative started in 2014 by Ahmad Kiarostami, the son world-famous filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami, several major movie theater outlets will screen ‘Plane Grove’ on June 7 to teach about Iran through the medium of documentaries.

‘Docunight’ screenings take place monthly in several major North American cities, including San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Boston, San Diego and Washington.

‘Plane Grove’ details the story of the longest street in the Middle East. Vali-e Asr Street expands 17 kilometers, stretching from the southern to the northern parts of the Iranian capital city of Tehran. The street also hosts the largest expanse of plane grove trees found in these parts, with the trees lining and adorning the street all along its corridor.

The street has had its name changed in line with the times, from Pahlavi to Mossadeq to the current Vali-e Asr.
